Educational Tourism: A Gateway to Learning Beyond Classrooms

Visakhapatnam: In an effort to make key tourist destinations accessible and educational for the youth, the district administration has launched the Educational Tourism Itinerary.

This initiative is designed not only to encourage students to explore important historical and tourist spots but also to deepen their understanding and awareness of these locations' cultural and historical significance.

District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad emphasized that the program offers a blend of entertainment and education, benefiting students by expanding their knowledge beyond the classroom. The initiative will provide government school students with free entry to tourist sites, while private and corporate school students will be charged a nominal fee of ₹10 per student.

As part of the Marine Tourism segment, students can visit notable sites such as the Sea Harrier Museum, TU 142 Aircraft Museum, INS Kursura Submarine Museum, and Visakha Museum. During their visits, guides will provide detailed explanations of the museums' historical and cultural relevance.

Speaking at the launch, District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad said, “This program will also include a Marine Live Walk, offering students a hands-on experience to learn and adopt best practices in marine conservation.”

Excited students eagerly look forward to this unique opportunity to learn beyond their textbooks and explore the world around them.
