In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the lives of the differently-abled, Visakhapatnam is set to witness the distribution of aids and assisting devices to around 50,000 divyangs.

The comprehensive range of support includes artificial limbs, motorized tricycles, wheelchairs, hearing devices, and more.

Under the guidance of BJP MP G V L Narasimha Rao, these special camps will be conducted until December 5, covering all Assembly segments of the Visakhapatnam parliamentary constituency.

Emphasizing the strategic approach, Rao highlighted the plan to organize one camp per day in different Assembly segments to effectively reach out to the beneficiaries.

During a speech at the event, MP Narasimha Rao emphasized the significance of providing these assisting devices at no cost to the divyangs.

He expressed the belief that such provisions would contribute to the self-reliance of individuals with disabilities and enhance their overall quality of life.

Rao urged eligible beneficiaries to participate in the camps within their respective areas, where they would undergo examinations by a team of doctors before receiving the necessary aids.

The initiative gained traction after Narasimha Rao's appeal to the Central government, leading to the approval of providing free aids and devices to divyangs in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram parliamentary constituencies under the Assistance to Disabled Persons scheme.

The execution of this program is entrusted to ALIMCO, a central public sector enterprise acting on the directives of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Expressing gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Narasimha Rao noted that this marks the first instance in Visakhapatnam

where the distribution of aids and assisting devices to the differently-abled is being carried out on such a massive scale.

He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of officials from the Central government, ALIMCO, and district authorities in making these camps possible.
