In a bid to address pertinent issues impacting trade and industry, the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) organized an interactive session featuring N. Sridhar, Principal Commissioner of Customs, in Visakhapatnam.

Led by CH Kishore Kumar, a member of the Managing Committee and Managing Director of Sandy Bay Seafoods Private Ltd, along with Rohit Kancherla, another member of the managing committee and CEO of KR and Sons, the FAPCCI team, along with other members, actively participated in the session.

During the session, experts delved into various challenges and concerns affecting the trade and EXIM (export-import) fraternity at large.

They placed significant emphasis on the crucial role played by the customs department in facilitating EXIM business transactions. Notably, discussions revolved around the services provided by the customs department, particularly in the domain of export air cargo clearance.

Of particular concern was the untapped potential within industries such as seafood and pharmaceuticals to leverage Visakhapatnam's export air cargo facilities.

It was highlighted that despite the promising prospects, many seafood and pharmaceutical products, especially chilled seafood items, are being diverted to other cities like Hyderabad due to the absence of adequate air cargo facilities in Visakhapatnam.

Addressing this gap could not only bolster the export capabilities of Visakhapatnam but also reduce logistical challenges and costs associated with transporting goods to other cities.

To further explore these opportunities and address the prevailing challenges, officials from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) actively participated in the session, engaging in meaningful dialogue with the Principal Commissioner.

By fostering collaboration between key stakeholders and shedding light on critical issues, the interactive session organized by FAPCCI serves as a crucial platform for driving positive change and unlocking the full potential of Visakhapatnam's trade and export sector.
