Fishermen Brave Capsized Boat, Swim to Shore



In a daring escape, seven fishermen from Visakhapatnam managed to swim to safety after their boat capsized near Appikonda on Wednesday. The incident occurred when a mechanized fishing boat, owned by Duda Das and identified as IND-AP-VS-245, departed from Vizag Fishing Harbour.

However, the vessel encountered turbulent waves, causing it to break apart, posing a grave threat to the crew's safety.

Despite the perilous conditions, all seven fishermen successfully reached the shore near Appikonda Sivalayam, which is situated close to the steel plant area..


 Vasupalli Janakiram, The president of the AP Mechanised Fishing Boats Owners Association, confirmed the incident, emphasizing the severity of the waves that led to the boat's destruction, estimated to be worth Rs 40 lakh.

This incident underscores the bravery and resilience of the fishermen who, faced with adversity at sea, managed to navigate their way to safety through sheer determination and courage.

The local community has hailed their survival as a testament to their experience and skill in handling such challenging maritime conditions.
