VISAKHAPATNAM, December 23, 2023 – The Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Simhachalam in Vizag is gearing up for the festive celebration of 'Mukkoti Ekadasi' on December 23, with an anticipated gathering of around 60,000 devotees on this auspicious day.

Elaborate preparations are in progress, with special rituals scheduled to commence at 5 a.m. on the festival day. A recent meeting among temple officials outlined the arrangements, emphasizing the expectation of a significant number of devotees seeking darshan on this special occasion.

To facilitate the influx of devotees, the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate special buses, while the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) ensures sanitation and provides drinking water.

The Police Department will deploy additional forces, and the temple management has made a request to the District Collector for the closure of all liquor shops in Simhachalam on the festival day.

Devotees will be granted access to the temple through the 'Uttara Dwaram' (north gate) on the festival day, a practice considered highly auspicious when worshipping Lord Vishnu.

Temple Executive Officer S. Srinivasa Murthy stated, "Worshipping Lord Vishnu after entering the temple through the Uttara Dwaram on the Mukkoti Ekadasi day is considered very auspicious."

Following tradition, P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the hereditary trustee of the temple, will have the first darshan of the Lord, followed by protocol darshans before opening the temple to devotees.

Between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., special rituals, including 'Maha Nivedana,' will be conducted. Alongside free darshan, devotees can avail special darshan tickets priced between ₹100 and ₹500 for an enhanced spiritual experience.

The Mukkoti Ekadasi celebration promises to be a grand and spiritually significant event for all those in attendance.
