GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg conducted a surprise inspection of the Ganesh immersion site near the Naval Coastal Battery on Beach Road around midnight on Monday.

He reviewed the immersion process, sanitation arrangements and deployment of sanitation workers at the site.

Officials were instructed to ensure sanitation operations continued without interruption through the night.

Ketan Garg directed staff to completely remove accumulated waste within two to three hours in the early morning and keep the immersion site clean by daybreak.

The waste includes remnants of immersed Ganesh idols, flowers, puja materials and other festival-related materials.

The commissioner also directed officials to keep adequate sanitation personnel, vehicles, machinery and equipment ready in advance.

Sanitation workers’ attendance was ordered to be recorded through facial-recognition devices, with action as per rules against those found absent from duty.

 

Electrical engineering officials were also asked to regularly inspect lighting at immersion sites and ensure adequate illumination until the immersion process is completed.
