GVMC Takes Action: Private Workers Hired to Clear Garbage Amid Strike

GVMC Commissioner C.M. Saikanth Varma announced that the corporation is bringing in private workers and special vehicles to remove the piles of garbage accumulating on city roads.

These workers are being paid daily wages for their efforts as part of alternative arrangements during the ongoing State-wide strike by sanitation workers.

In a statement released on Thursday, Mr. Saikanth Varma encouraged residents to help by segregating waste and using designated dustbins.

He expressed gratitude for the support received from the community.

With nearly 4,000 GVMC contract and outsourcing staff participating in a 10-day strike, there has been a noticeable buildup of garbage along roadsides, causing discomfort for residents due to unpleasant odors.

The swift response by GVMC aims to address this garbage issue effectively.
