Handloom Saree Walk in Vizag: Reviving Tradition and Promoting Indian Handlooms



Embracing a novel approach to celebrate the country's rich handloom culture, the Handloom Saree Walk, organized by the esteemed Spirit of Vizag Society, is a delightful precursor to the National Handloom Day festivities in the city.

This remarkable event, spanning three kilometers, is slated to commence on Sunday, 6th August 2023, from 6 am to 9:30 am, with the starting point at Viswapriya Functional Hall on the RK Beach road.

At the core of the Handloom Saree Walk in Vizag lies a profound mission to breathe new life into the time-honored tradition of saree-wearing, champion the handloom industry, encourage a healthier lifestyle through walking, and foster a stronger sense of community. The Saree Walk stands as a one-of-a-kind occasion, uniting saree enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds, all eager to revel in India's cultural heritage.


This event offers the perfect stage for individuals to proudly showcase their adoration for sarees while supporting the handloom sector. Designed to be a joyous and invigorating activity, the walk encourages participants to connect with one another, nurturing a sense of social capital.

To partake in this wonderful journey, interested individuals can register for the walk on the www.thespiritofvizag.com website until 2nd August 2023, with a nominal fee of Rs 100.

Registration is free for participants below the age of 15 and those above 75 years. Each participant will be honored with a certificate of participation, while any group comprising walkers from three or more generations will be granted a delightful surprise gift.
