Heightened Alert as Delhi and Noida Schools Receive Bomb Threats: Police Assure Swift Action

round 100 schools in Delhi and Noida were thrown into a state of panic on Wednesday morning, May 1, 2024, as they received alarming bomb threats.

However, authorities have urged the public to remain calm, assuring swift action to address the situation.

The threats, delivered via email, prompted immediate responses from law enforcement agencies. Police in both Delhi and Noida initiated thorough searches utilizing bomb disposal units and canine squads.

Premises were evacuated as a precautionary measure, with officials scouring the areas for any signs of danger.

The emails, quoting verses from the Quran, added a layer of concern to the already tense situation. Additionally, the Delhi Fire Services fielded an influx of over 60 fire-related calls during the morning.

DCP Rohit Meena confirmed that several schools in the southwest district received threats around 4 am, leading to evacuations and extensive searches.

Similar incidents unfolded in the southern district, according to DCP Ankit Chauhan, indicating a coordinated effort to disrupt normalcy.

Initial investigations revealed that the emails originated from a Russian IP address, although authorities caution that it could be a masked identity through proxy servers.

Despite the challenges posed by technological obfuscation, law enforcement agencies remain committed to uncovering the culprits behind these threats.

Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, V.K. Saxena, emphasized the gravity of the situation, directing the police to conduct exhaustive searches and ensure accountability.

He reassured the public of the police force's vigilance and determination to prevent any untoward incidents.

Acknowledging the anxiety among parents and citizens, officials urged cooperation in the ongoing safety measures.

Atishi, a Delhi Minister, provided updates via social media, confirming the evacuation of students and ongoing police searches in affected schools.

The Director of Delhi Fire Services, Atul Garg, reported a surge in calls regarding bomb threats, underlining the widespread impact of these incidents.

As investigations continue, authorities remain resolute in their efforts to safeguard schools and communities from potential harm, vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
