IMD Forecasts Above-Normal Temperatures in Coastal Andhra, Thunderstorms Expected Later
Visakhapatnam: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Amaravati has forecasted an unusual rise in temperatures for north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema regions, predicting a temperature increase of two to four degrees Celsius over the next three days starting Tuesday. The spike is attributed to prevailing dry conditions and north-easterly winds sweeping across these areas, according to IMD Director Stella S.
Despite the ongoing dry spell, IMD has also indicated the possibility of thunderstorms on November 7 and 8. These storms are expected due to a developing cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal. Although this system is not anticipated to evolve into a low-pressure area, areas such as Nellore, Tirupati, Kavali, and parts of Annayama district could experience isolated rainfall.
In the 24-hour period leading up to 8:30 am on Monday, certain areas have already recorded light to moderate rainfall. Notably, Palamaner in Chittoor district registered 22 mm, Tada in Tirupati recorded 20 mm, and Kuppam in Chittoor noted 17.2 mm of rain.
Temperature readings further reflect the rising trend, with Narasapur seeing a four-degree increase to 34 degrees Celsius, while Machilipatnam recorded a 3.3-degree rise, reaching 34.4 degrees Celsius.
The IMD advises residents in affected regions to be cautious of the increased temperatures and to stay informed of further updates on weather changes.
