Immediate Payment of Salaries and Pensions for AU Employees Demanded

Unions Call for State Government Action to Address Delays

The All Universities Employees and Workers Union (CITU) and the Hostel Workers Union Andhra University Committees have jointly demanded that the state government take immediate action to pay salaries to Andhra University (AU) employees and pensions to retired staff.

In a press release, Union Honorary Presidents V. Krishnarao and Anaparthi Apparao highlighted that even eight days into July, teaching and non-teaching staff have not received their salaries, nor have retired employees received their pensions.

They emphasized that the resignation of the AU Vice-Chancellor (VC) should not prevent salary and pension payments, as this is causing undue hardship to both current and retired employees.

The union leaders questioned why there are obstacles to paying salaries when AU's administration and activities continue without disruption despite the absence of a VC.

They pointed out that the delay in salary payments is adversely affecting employees' families and AU’s operations. Retired employees, in particular, are struggling to afford their daily medication and household needs.

The unions urged the state government and the Governor to intervene immediately and implement alternative measures to ensure that salaries and pensions are paid by the 10th of this month. They warned that failure to do so would lead to protests.
