Inauguration of New Gateway At Visakhapatnam Port



In a significant move towards city development, the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) recently inaugurated a new gateway at the port, symbolizing its dedication to the beautification and progress of not only the port itself but also the surrounding city.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Convent Junction in Visakhapatnam, marked the completion of the gateway project, which was executed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh.

Chairperson of the VPA emphasized the port's role in supporting the district administration and contributing to the city's development initiatives.

Beyond its core functions, the port has actively engaged in various urban enhancement projects, including road construction, pavement improvements, green space development, and installation of lighting infrastructure to enhance the port's aesthetic appeal, especially during the night.

Describing Visakhapatnam as one of the most beautiful cities in the country, the port chairperson commended the relentless efforts of the city police and administration in ensuring the city's safety and maintenance.


As part of its ongoing efforts to beautify the city, the VPA is focusing on enhancing greenery at key junctions connecting to the port.

Commissioner of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, CM Saikanth Varma, praised the port's active involvement in various infrastructure projects across the city, including the construction of BT roads and beautification of the flyover at Convent Junction, among others.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent officials, including City Commissioner of Police A Ravi Shankar, Deputy Chairperson of VPA Durgesh Kumar Dubey, Chief Vigilance Officer PSL Swami, Secretary T Venu Gopal, along with heads of departments, officers, and employees of the port, underscoring the collective commitment to the city's development and progress.
