INS Visakhapatnam's Quick Action After Drone Attack on MV Genco Picardy

In a rapid response to a distress call, INS Visakhapatnam, the frontline warship deployed for anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden, swiftly reacted to a drone attack on the Marshall Island flagged MV Genco Picardy on Wednesday night.

"Upon receiving the distress call, INS Visakhapatnam, actively engaged in anti-piracy patrol in the Gulf of Aden, intercepted the vessel on Thursday to provide immediate assistance."

Fortunately, MV Genco Picardy, carrying 22 crew members, including nine Indians, reported no casualties, and the fire was successfully controlled.

Indian Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists from INS Visakhapatnam boarded the vessel in the early hours of Thursday to inspect the damaged area. After a thorough examination, they ensured the area was safe for the ship's continued transit.

Following the scrutiny, the vessel is now proceeding to its next port of call, thanks to the prompt and effective response from INS Visakhapatnam.  #INSVisakhapatnam #SecurityResponse #MaritimeSafety
