Exciting news for agriculture and irrigation enthusiasts! Visakhapatnam, lovingly known as Vizag, is all set to host the 25th Congress of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) and the 7th International Executive Council (IEC) meeting of ICID from November 2 to 8. This international gathering promises to address the myriad challenges faced by the agriculture and allied sectors, with a focus on designing innovative irrigation systems and managing water resources for future needs.

During a recent review meeting, the district collector, A Mallikarjuna, emphasized the importance of seamless organization for this prestigious event, with a special nod to the expected guest of honor, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. What makes this event even more special is the participation of guests from 90 countries, including high-ranking officials from the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage and the Indian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage. Representatives from the Central Water Commission will also be in attendance.

While the conference promises to be a hub of knowledge exchange and collaboration, there’s a thoughtful touch as well. Around 300 guests will get the opportunity to explore the scenic wonders of Vizag, including the breathtaking Araku and Tatipudi reservoir. To ensure their safety and a memorable experience, discussions with the police and revenue officials are already underway.
