Visakhapatnam: The much-awaited 5th Visakha Organic Mela, Andhra Pradesh’s largest event celebrating organic farming and sustainable living, will take place from December 5th to 8th at the Andhra University Engineering College Grounds. Jalagam Kumar Swamy, National Executive Member of Bharat Kisan Sangh, has urged the public to actively participate and ensure the event’s success. He made this appeal during a press conference at the Keshav Seva Samiti office in Nakkavanipalem on Saturday morning.

Speaking about the importance of the mela, Mr. Swamy emphasized that crops grown through natural farming methods are not only healthier to consume but also contribute to environmental conservation. He pointed out the harmful effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which lead to health issues and ecological damage. By supporting organic farming, we can promote a healthier, greener future.

The four-day mela will feature a variety of engaging and educational events:

• December 5th: A Farmers’ Convention at 10 a.m., bringing together experts and farmers to discuss sustainable agricultural practices.
• December 6th: A seminar titled Your Health is in Your Hands, focusing on the health benefits of consuming organic food.
• December 7th: A session on Food Processing, showcasing methods to preserve and enhance organic crops.
• December 8th: A workshop on Terrace Gardens, promoting urban gardening and self-reliance in food production.

Datla Subrahmanya Varma, District President of the Go-Aadharitha Prakriti Vyavasaayadarula Sangham, stressed the significance of organic farming and encouraged farmers and consumers alike to adopt natural farming methods.

Notable speakers at the press conference included Ashok of Palem Naturals, Madhu Sudan Reddy of Satva Naturals, Usha Gajapathi Raju of Avani Organics, and JV Ratnam, Founder Secretary of the Green Climate Team NGO. They highlighted the need to spread awareness about the health and environmental benefits of organic farming.
