Launch of Free Bus Travel Scheme for Women from Visakhapatnam: Minister's Announcement

Visakhapatnam: Transport Minister M Ramprasad Reddy announced the launch of the free bus travel scheme for women, commencing from Visakhapatnam.

During a media interaction on Sunday, Reddy mentioned plans to study the scheme's implementation in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka, ensuring a smooth rollout in Andhra Pradesh.

"We aim to introduce the scheme after a comprehensive review to avoid implementation issues, even if it means a slight delay. Women, who supported the NDA alliance in the recent elections, will benefit from this initiative," stated the minister.

Reddy criticized the previous YSRCP government for not fully merging the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) with the government. He assured a revamp of the RTC, emphasizing electrification of buses within five years without causing inconvenience to employees.

The minister also accused former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy's family of accumulating illegal wealth and exploiting state resources, vowing to expose their activities.

"We will reveal the illicit activities and wealth amassed by Peddireddy's family," added Reddy.
