LPG Conversion Enhances Sustainability at Akshaya Patra Foundation's Centralized Kitchen in visakhapatnam
The Akshaya Patra Foundation, known for providing midday meals to 25,000 children across 137 government schools in Visakhapatnam's urban area, recently upgraded its central kitchen at the Kancharapalem Industrial Estate.
The kitchen's gas boiler, previously fueled by diesel, underwent a transformation to utilize LPG, aiming for sustainability and energy efficiency.
The initiative, converting the 850 kg boiler from HSD to LPG, was undertaken by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.
The inauguration of this new facility took place with B. Anil Kumar, Executive Director and State Head of TAPSO (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State Office), and Niskinchana Bhakta Dasa, unit president of the Akshaya Patra Foundation's Vizag cluster, on Tuesday.
Among the dignitaries present were Y. Ravi Kumar, Divisional Sales Head (LPG), Vizag Indane Divisional Office; P. Kailash Kanth, Deputy General Manager (HR-CSR); Suraj Kumar Patnaik, CGM (Ops), TAPSO; and Suraj Kundu, Divisional Institutional Business Head.
During the event, Mr. Anil Kumar inspected the kitchen operations and commended the Foundation's efforts in providing nutritious meals to government schoolchildren.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation, in collaboration with the Union and State governments, serves midday meals to 25,000 children daily in Visakhapatnam's urban area.
Across India, the Akshaya Patra Foundation feeds 22 lakh students daily through 74 kitchens, marking a significant contribution to alleviating hunger among underprivileged children.
Niskinchana Bhakta Dasa expressed gratitude for IOCL's generous CSR contribution, which directly benefits disadvantaged children.
