Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy revealed the ambitious 'Vision Visakha' on Tuesday, outlining a comprehensive strategy to elevate Visakhapatnam into a global metropolis and a key economic hub rivalling cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

Envisioning an array of futuristic initiatives including an iconic secretariat building, stadium, convention center, and institute for emerging technologies, Chief Minister Reddy emphasized the potential for Visakhapatnam to capture global attention.

Addressing a gathering, Reddy stressed the need for a tangible 10-year vision, asserting, "We need to have a roadmap, which is workable. It cannot be a roadmap where we just dream big and yet achieve nothing."

However, Reddy acknowledged that the state government alone cannot realize this vision, calling for active participation from the Central Government, private sector, public-private partnerships, and other stakeholders.

Highlighting upcoming projects like the Bhogapuram Airport and Mulapeta Port, Reddy emphasized the city's need for a Metro rail, resorts, and other developments to bolster its prominence. He also disclosed ongoing negotiations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to introduce high-speed rail corridors in Andhra Pradesh.

Reddy reiterated his commitment to relocate to Visakhapatnam post-elections, pledging to hold his swearing-in ceremony in the city. He released the 'Vision Visakha' document, which forecasts investments worth Rs 1 lakh crore over the next five years across various sectors including connectivity, industrial landscape, sustainability, and urban planning.

Emphasizing the need to elevate Andhra Pradesh's services sector to the national average, Reddy highlighted the conversion of 39 percent of investments pledged during the 2023 Global Investor Summit into reality.

The unveiling of 'Vision Visakha' marks a significant step towards realizing the potential of Visakhapatnam as a dynamic global destination and underscores the government's commitment to driving inclusive growth and development across Andhra Pradesh.
