Man Accused of Killing Woman in Bengaluru Hostel Arrested in Madhya Pradesh

Bengaluru: The man accused of brutally murdering a 24-year-old woman in her Bengaluru hostel was arrested in Madhya Pradesh today and is being transported back to the city for further investigation, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand confirmed.

The victim, Kriti Kumari from Bihar, resided in a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Bengaluru's bustling Koramangala neighborhood.

On Tuesday night, a man armed with a knife infiltrated the building around 11 pm and slit her throat before fleeing the scene.

Sources reveal that the accused is the boyfriend of Ms. Kumari's roommate.

The couple often quarreled over his unemployment, and Ms. Kumari would frequently intervene, advising her roommate to distance herself from him. This provoked the man, leading him to kill Ms. Kumari.

The gruesome murder was captured by CCTV cameras installed in the hostel. Footage shows the man knocking on Ms. Kumari's door, dragging her into the corridor upon entry, and pinning her against the wall.

Despite her resistance, he overpowered her, repeatedly stabbing her in the neck before fleeing. Other residents rushed out upon hearing the commotion, with one immediately calling the police.

Commissioner Dayanand stated that the investigation is being expedited.

The Bengaluru police had formed three dedicated teams to catch the accused, leading to his swift apprehension.
