Maritime skill hub in Vizag to boost coastal community development



The Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding (CEMS) that has been setup with an investment of Rs. 763 crores in the city of destiny will be officially inaugurated on February 23rd.

Ministry of ports, shipping and waterways has set up this centre under Sagarmala project. The centre believes skilled manpower as the crucial foundation for coastal community development.

Sarbananda Sonowala, Union Minister of ports, shipping and waterways will be inaugurating the centre on Wednesday. The centre actually started its operations a few years ago in Visakhapatnam. 
CEMS will be aimed towards providing skilled manpower for manufacturing, shipping, aerospace and automotive sectors. 


CEMS campus here in the city is equipped with a hostel that can accommodate 200 students. The Centre has got state of art labs having cyber physical infrastructure.

CEMS has been set up to function as a hub and spoke model to support work-integrated education and training so as to enable successful and smooth post college transition to youth. 

CEMS is also the authorised training centre for product lifecycle management platform. CEMS supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gati Shakti initiative through skill development.
