MILAN started with the participation of only four countries, viz Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand. MILAN is incepted by the Indian Navy in 1995 at Andaman and Nicobar Command.

MILAN 2022 that is going to happen in Visakhapatnam is actually 2020 edition of MILAN that is postponed due to COVID-19.

MILAN-2022 – A Large Scale Event:

MILAN-2022 will be witnessing a participation of nearly 40 countries which is the largest ever. The countries are sending their warships and high-level delegation for participating in the event. With more focus on exercises in surface, sub surface, air domains and weapon firings, this edition of MILAN-2022 is going to be a large scale one. 

Navies and delegations from various countries will be expressing their views on maritime security in this event through seminars and conferences.

Event Details:

MILAN event will begin with an opening ceremony and inauguration of MILAN village on February 26th. An international city parade was scheduled to be held on February 27th. Then MILAN 2022 will also host an international seminar on ‘Harnessing Collective Maritime Competence through Collaboration’ on 27-28 February. The sea phase of the exercise for the participating countries is scheduled to be held from March 1st to 4th. 

The naval exercise is set to make India proud for sure. Interactions between Navy and Navy will enhance mutual understanding, cooperation and inter-operability between maritime forces. MILAN 22 will provide a great opportunity in developing great relationship between countries.
