In a significant event marking the commencement of his third term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in today alongside 72 ministers, forming the new coalition government.

The composition includes 30 Cabinet Ministers, five with independent charge, and 36 Ministers of State. Specific portfolios are expected to be announced later.

At age 73, PM Modi now leads his third term, or "Modi 3.0," having first taken office in 2014 after a sweeping victory that ended a decade of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) governance. He joins Jawaharlal Nehru as only the second Prime Minister in India's history to secure three consecutive terms.

The Swearing-In Ceremony
The ceremony took place on the expansive lawns of Rashtrapati Bhavan amidst forecasts of a sweltering 42 degrees Celsius. President Droupadi Murmu officiated the ceremony, administering the oath to PM Modi and subsequently to other key figures including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Nitin Gadkari. The sequence continued with prominent leaders such as JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, S. Jaishankar, and Manohar Lal Khattar.

Representation and Diversity
The swearing-in witnessed participation from leaders across various regions and political backgrounds. HD Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular) was the first leader from a BJP ally to take the oath, followed by Lalan Singh of Janata Dal (United). Representation from the northeast included Sarbananda Sonowal and Kiren Rijiju.

Virendra Kumar, a notable figure representing the Scheduled Castes and an eight-time Member of Parliament, joined from Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh reserved seat. The ceremony also saw supporters energetically applauding their leaders as they took the oath.

Notable Inductions
Jyotiraditya Scindia's inclusion in the Modi 3.0 cabinet solidifies his influence within the BJP since his departure from Congress four years ago. Hardeep Singh Puri, a former diplomat known for managing critical oil crises, was also sworn in. Chirag Paswan, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief, was inducted, bolstering his stature as his father's political successor and marking a significant return in Bihar's political scene.

International Presence
The event was graced by leaders from neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region, including Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, highlighting the regional importance of this new administration.
