In a dedicated effort to uphold the values of cleanliness and contribute to the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), a premier naval research facility in Visakhapatnam under the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), has inaugurated the 'Swachhta Pakhwada' fortnight.

This initiative, aligned with the DRDO's calendar, spans from December 1 to 15, aiming to foster a culture of cleanliness and hygiene within the organization.

Led by the distinguished Dr. Abraham Varughese, an Outstanding Scientist and the Director of NSTL, the launch of the cleanliness drive saw enthusiastic participation from employees across various departments.

The emphasis was not only on immediate cleanliness in the office premises but also on the digitization and systematic removal of outdated records.

During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Varughese, alongside Associate Director H N Das and other scientists, officers, and staff, took a collective Swachhta pledge.

This symbolic commitment underscores the laboratory's dedication to promoting a clean and sustainable environment both within its confines and in the communities it serves.

Under the guidance of senior scientists and officers, discussions were held to underline the significance of maintaining cleanliness among all employees. Identified sites for the cleanliness drive span various locations, reflecting the laboratory's commitment to extending its impact beyond its immediate surroundings.

To coordinate the diverse activities under the cleanliness drive, Lt. Col. Rahul Dixit, the division head of Works and Estate, has taken on the role of the coordinator.

His leadership ensures that the efforts are organized and effectively executed, further contributing to the success of the 'Swachhta Pakhwada' at NSTL.

As the fortnight unfolds, the collective spirit of the NSTL community is geared towards achieving not just short-term cleanliness goals but also fostering a long-lasting culture of cleanliness and sustainability.

The initiative serves as a testament to the laboratory's commitment to societal well-being and national missions, aligning with the broader vision of a cleaner and healthier India.
