Visakhapatnam: Passport verification services in Visakhapatnam will now be completed within three days, stated city police commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi. Residents of the port city have long faced challenges during the police-led passport verification process, with some applicants unable to receive their certificates on time.

In response to complaints and delays in the process, the city police have taken steps to both streamline and accelerate the procedure. To address these issues, the police commissioner introduced measures to ensure timely completion of verifications. Guidelines have been set to finish the verification process within a fixed timeframe.

The duration for issuing certificates varies between three days and a maximum of one week, depending on the verification type. Police verification for private firms and organisations will be completed within seven days. Similarly, job verification for government positions will also be wrapped up in a week.
