PM Lays Foundation for Atchutapuram ESI Hospital

Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone on Tuesday for a 30-bed ESI Hospital in Atchutapuram, Anakapalli, to be completed by 2027 at a cost of ₹69 crore.

The event, part of a larger launch of healthcare projects worth over ₹12,850 crore nationwide, was attended locally by State Labour Minister Vasamsetti Subhash, Yelamanchili MLA Sundarapu Vijay Kumar, and Anakapalli District Collector Vijaya Krishna.

Minister Subhash noted the hospital had been sanctioned in 2022 but was delayed by the previous government. He emphasized the need for timely healthcare services, citing a recent industrial accident that claimed 15 lives. "Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu prioritized this project to meet local needs," he stated.

District Collector Vijaya Krishna shared that the hospital, located on a two-acre site near the SEZ, would serve over 37,000 nearby workers and their families, totaling approximately 1.4 lakh beneficiaries under the State Employees Insurance Scheme.

Yelamanchili MLA Sundarapu Vijay Kumar added that the hospital will offer secondary care in medicine, surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, pediatrics, and anesthesiology, meeting critical healthcare needs for the industrial workforce in the region.
