PM Modi Condemns Sam Pitroda's Racist Remarks, Calls for Respect in Election Campaigns

In a fervent address during a rally in Warangal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi vehemently condemned what he described as "racist remarks" made by Congress leader Sam Pitroda.

Pitroda had earlier sparked controversy with comments suggesting people in certain regions resembled Africans or Chinese. Modi stressed that such comments, which insult individuals based on skin color, are unacceptable to the people of India.

He called upon Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to provide an explanation for Pitroda's statements, asserting that the nation will not tolerate disrespect towards its citizens on racial grounds.

As the Lok Sabha elections progress, Prime Minister Modi intensifies his campaign efforts, addressing rallies and conducting roadshows in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

With phase 3 of the elections completed on May 7, covering 93 constituencies across 11 states and union territories, voter turnout reached nearly 62%.

However, incidents of violence were reported in West Bengal, highlighting the charged atmosphere surrounding the electoral process.

During his campaign, Modi emphasized the importance of securing a significant majority in the Lok Sabha, stating that it was essential to prevent the resurgence of policies like reinstating Article 370 in Kashmir or halting progress on the Ayodhya Ram Temple.

He drew parallels to historical instances of what he termed "appeasement politics," citing the Shah Bano case during the Rajiv Gandhi government.

On Election Day, both Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah exercised their franchise in Gujarat. However, reports of sporadic violence emerged from West Bengal,

Underscoring the volatile nature of politics in the region as clashes erupted between workers of various political parties.

As the election season unfolds, Modi's condemnation of Pitroda's remarks underscores the need for respectful discourse and the rejection of divisive rhetoric based on ethnicity or skin color.
