Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in the long-awaited foundation stone laying ceremony for the Railway Zone Headquarters in Visakhapatnam.

The event has faced delays due to issues with land allocation during the previous administration. 

During a recent meeting, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu discussed the plans for the railway zone in detail. Naidu also pushed for the development of a new railway line connecting Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, and Odisha, and proposed the introduction of a bullet train service between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.

Chief Minister Naidu met with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi to discuss various key matters, including the railway zone and the development of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu expressed his gratitude for the Union Cabinet’s approval of the revised cost estimates for the Polavaram project and briefed the Prime Minister on the state’s progress. He also thanked Modi for the Centre’s ongoing support in addressing fiscal challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh, including its assistance in the development of the capital city, Amaravati.

Another significant topic was the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL). The Central Government has assured that there are no plans to privatize the plant and will explore ways to revive it without merging it with SAIL, which could negatively impact RINL’s share value. The Finance Ministry is reportedly working on a special package for RINL to aid in its recovery.

Additionally, Naidu raised concerns regarding the recent controversy over the alleged adulteration of Tirumala Laddu prasadam, providing the Prime Minister with details on the steps taken by his government to address the issue and ensure the quality and purity of the prasadam.

Naidu’s discussions with Prime Minister Modi set the stage for further meetings with other Union ministers to address various state-related issues, including his scheduled discussions with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other key officials.
