On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the release of the 17th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

This latest disbursement will benefit over 93 million farmers across India, with more than Rs 20,000 crore being allocated. The 16th instalment was previously released on February 28, 2024.

“Ours is a government fully committed to Kisan Kalyan (farmers’ welfare). It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare.

We want to keep working even more for the farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come,” Modi stated.

 Understanding the PM-KISAN Scheme

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in December 2018, aims to support the income of farmers by providing annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000.

This amount is distributed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 every four months, directly transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Over 93 million farmers received Rs 2,000 as part of the 16th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme.

Steps to Receive the 17th Instalment

To receive the 17th instalment, farmers must ensure their paperwork is up to date, including completing the e-Know Your Customer (eKYC) process. Here’s how to complete the eKYC process:

1. Visit the Official PM-KISAN Website: [https://pmkisan.gov.in](https://pmkisan.gov.in)
2. Select the "eKYC" Option: Under the "Farmer Corner" section.
3. Enter Your Aadhaar Number: Fill in your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
4. Receive OTP: Click on the "search" button, and an OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar-registered mobile number.
5. Submit OTP: Enter the OTP and click on the "submit" button to complete the process.

Alternatively, farmers can complete the eKYC process at a nearby Common Service Centre (CSC) by providing their Aadhaar number and undergoing biometric authentication.

 How to Check PM-KISAN Instalment Status

To check the status of your PM-KISAN instalment, follow these steps:

1. Visit the PM-KISAN Website: [https://pmkisan.gov.in](https://pmkisan.gov.in)
2. Click on "Beneficiary Status": This option is available on the homepage.
3. Enter Required Details: Provide your registered Aadhaar number or bank account number.
4. View Status: Click on the "get data" button, and the status of your instalment will be displayed on the screen.

By following these steps, farmers can ensure they receive their entitled benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme and check their payment status conveniently.
