Prime Minister Modi Initiates Redevelopment Projects for 12 Railway Stations and road over Bridge Constructions in Cities including Visakhapatnam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to mark a significant milestone in India's infrastructure development by laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 12 railway stations.
This initiative falls under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and also includes the construction of four road over bridges (ROB) within the Waltair Division.
The ceremony, scheduled for February 26, will be conducted virtually, as announced by Divisional Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad.
According to Prasad, the redevelopment plan encompasses the construction of new station buildings, installation of world-class amenities, 12-meter-wide foot over bridges, and the addition of second entries to the stations.
Stations slated for revitalization within the Waltair division include Simhachalam, Araku, Parvatipuram, Bobbili, Kothavalasa, Cheepurupalli, Srikakulam Road, and Naupada. In the Odisha region, the stations earmarked for redevelopment are Paralakhemundi, Jeypore, Rayagada, and Koraput.
Additionally, four road over bridges in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts are poised to enhance connectivity to numerous villages and townships, thereby fostering improved business and trade prospects.
The redevelopment endeavor is backed by a significant investment, with Rs. 443.47 crore allocated for the enhancement of the 12 stations and Rs. 218.13 crore earmarked for the construction of road over bridges.
Expressing the East Coast Railway's commitment to regional infrastructure development, Prasad highlighted the ongoing efforts being pursued with urgency.
He also noted the completion of several infrastructure projects as evidence of progress. Previously, Prime Minister Modi had initiated the station redevelopment project for Visakhapatnam, Duvvada, Vizianagaram, Damanjodi, and Jagdalpur, with an investment of Rs. 600 crore.
