Prioritizing Eye Health for Students During Exam Season in Andhra Pradesh

As students across Andhra Pradesh prepare for their final exams, experts are urging a collective effort to prioritize eye health.

The increasing reliance on digital learning tools and prolonged screen time has led to a rise in eye fatigue and discomfort among students.

Professionals from the LV Prasad Eye Institute campuses in Andhra Pradesh stress the importance of collaboration among students, parents, teachers, and doctors to address this issue.

Dr. Himabindu Alluri, a consultant ophthalmologist at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Visakhapatnam, highlights common symptoms such as dry eyes, headaches, blurred vision, and migraines among students and parents.

These issues not only hinder academic performance but also contribute to heightened stress levels. Particularly, students with visual impairments may face additional challenges, requiring extra study time. Hence, ensuring good eye health becomes imperative.

Dr. Himabindu advises students to undergo an eye examination before embarking on intensive study sessions. This helps identify any changes in their glasses prescription and detect potential eye problems early on.

Moreover, incorporating regular breaks during study sessions is crucial to prevent discomfort associated with prolonged near activity.

Adhering to the 20-20-20 rule—taking a 20-second break to look at something 20 feet away every 20 minutes—can help relax eye muscles and alleviate strain from continuous focus on nearby objects.
