Promoting Handloom Printing Arts through Tourism Department
Vishakhapatnam, August 7 : In an effort to promote handloom printing arts, the District Tourism Officer, Gnanaveni, has announced that the Tourism Department will be taking proactive steps.
This announcement was made during a visit to the Handloom Hand-Made Printing Craft Industry in Shambhuvanipalem, Vishakhapatnam, in honor of National Handloom Day.
During her visit, Gnanaveni praised the artisans for their exceptional work in handloom printing, highlighting the intricate designs they create on various fabrics. She assured that the Tourism Department will work towards publicizing these artisans' skills through its website, and will also endeavor to create employment opportunities for them.
Furthermore, Gnanaveni mentioned that the district collector, M. N. Harendhira Prasad, will be informed about the artisans' craftsmanship and their contributions to the local industry.
In response to directives from the collector, the Tourism Department is currently developing various programs and tour packages aimed at showcasing the skills of these artisans and enhancing their financial well-being.
The Tourism Officer also urged private textile businesses, boutique operators, and other shopping malls in the metropolitan area to support these local handloom artisans by visiting their workshops and providing them with business opportunities.
Additionally, Gnanaveni highlighted that approximately ten families of artisans have been given special support at the Biodiversity Park in Vishakhapatnam, where a dedicated center for forest wealth has been established to assist them.
She emphasized that widespread support for these artisans could further promote their craft and lead to their economic development. The visit was attended by District Tourism Officer Gnanaveni, promoter G. Sunita, and others involved in the initiative.
