Rising Temperatures in Andhra Pradesh

In Visakhapatnam and other parts of Andhra Pradesh, temperatures are soaring even though it's only the first week of February.

1)Early Heatwave

The mercury has already climbed to 36 degrees Celsius, making it feel like summer has arrived earlier than usual. Weather experts predict that the heat will continue to increase in the coming days. Last year, India experienced its warmest February in history, with temperatures reaching 29.54 degrees Celsius on average.

2)Recorded Temperatures

Cities like Kurnool in the Rayalaseema region have seen particularly high temperatures, with readings reaching 38°C on February 6th. Other areas, including Nandyal, Anantapur, and YSR Kadapa, have also experienced temperatures above normal. The nights have been relatively warm as well, with minimum temperatures ranging from 20 to 23°C across the state.

3)Causes and Concerns

The rise in temperatures can be attributed to a prolonged dry period and fewer weather disturbances. Experts point to global warming as a significant factor behind these changing weather patterns. Andhra Pradesh saw 21 heat wave days in 2023, with the number of heat waves increasing steadily. As temperatures continue to rise, concerns about water scarcity and health risks grow among residents.

4)Conclusion

Although it's still technically winter, Andhra Pradesh is already feeling the heat. With temperatures expected to climb even higher in the coming months, residents are bracing themselves for a hotter-than-usual summer. As climate change continues to impact the region, adapting to these changing weather patterns becomes increasingly important for the well-being of all.
