RTO Initiates Special Drive to Monitor Private Bus Operators in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has launched a special initiative to curb violations by private bus operators in Visakhapatnam.
This drive, which commenced on October 9, includes inspections of contract carriage (private) buses at various locations, including the NAD junction, Gambheeram, and Aganampudi.
During the inspections, RTO officials registered multiple cases against private bus operators for non-compliance with regulations, resulting in the seizure of eight buses.
With the upcoming Dasara festival, concerns have arisen regarding operators overcharging passengers and violating fare norms.
Deputy Transport Commissioner G. Adinarayana issued a stern warning to private operators, stating that buses would be confiscated for charging excess fares. He emphasized that this special drive would continue until the conclusion of the festival season. Motor Vehicle Inspectors M. Butchi Raju, Ganesh Reddy, Rajarao, and Rangarao actively participated in the enforcement efforts.
