Rushikonda Project Exposed: NDA Leaders Criticize Lavish Constructions

Visakhapatnam: The ₹500-crore project on Rushikonda Hill, covering 61 acres and featuring seven lavish blocks, has come under fire from NDA leaders who claim the buildings resemble a residence-cum-camp office for the Chief Minister rather than tourism resorts.

On June 16, Bheemunipatnam MLA-elect Ganta Srinivasa Rao, along with TDP and JSP members, inspected the controversial site.

They were shocked by the opulent interiors, which Rao said looked more like a CM's residence and office, not the promised tourism resorts.

Rao, accompanied by JSP Bheemunipatnam in-charge Panchakarla Sandeep, found luxurious living spaces, banquet halls, and office rooms.

These buildings are not meant for tourists like in three-star or five-star hotels. The YSRCP government misled the public," Rao stated.

He compared the opulence to the lifestyles of Saddam Hussein and Gali Janardhana Reddy. He also criticized the previous government for keeping the project secretive and allegedly violating regulations.

The project reportedly includes ₹21 crore for landscaping and ₹95 crore for debris removal, with a 25-foot barricade to block views.

Rao condemned the demolition of the Haritha resorts, which generated ₹8 crore annually. He mentioned that the new Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, would soon visit Rushikonda to assess the situation and decide on future actions.

"It's a Herculean task to repurpose these buildings for public use," Rao admitted. Sandeep highlighted the extravagant costs, including a ₹30 lakh washroom.
