Visakhapatnam: On the night of June 15, Vizag city police booked 315 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol and charged 66 others for rash and negligent driving, particularly bike racing.

The operation also led to the seizure of 66 bikes.

Police officials stated that surprise raids targeting drunk and reckless driving will continue throughout the city to prevent road accidents.

In 2022, Vizag police registered 9,667 cases of drunk driving, which nearly doubled to 18,979 in 2023.

Additionally, over 100 motorists caught for drunk driving in 2023 participated in a beach cleaning drive in Visakhapatnam.
