Visakhapatnam: For the second time in two days, Visakhapatnam International Airport received a bomb threat on Tuesday, triggering emergency security measures and disrupting flight schedules.
The threat, reported at 5:38 p.m., came via a tweet from a user identified as AdamLanza202, flagged by IndiGo’s regional security head. Flights 6E917 (Chennai-Visakhapatnam) and 6E969 (Bengaluru-Visakhapatnam) were moved to isolation bays upon landing and experienced a three-hour delay as security teams conducted thorough checks.
“We are addressing each threat seriously and following rigorous security protocols to ensure passenger safety,” stated a senior airport official. The official added that nearly 60 flights across India have faced similar threats in recent weeks, raising concerns nationwide.
Just a day prior, an IndiGo flight from Shamshabad to Visakhapatnam faced a bomb scare. Although no suspicious items were found, the return flight was delayed by two hours due to necessary inspections.
