Security Forces Gear Up for Election Duties in Visakhapatnam: Two CISF Companies Deployed
As part of these preparations, at least one Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) company has been allocated to each of the five North Coastal districts, in accordance with ECI directives.
Additionally, two CISF companies have recently arrived in Visakhapatnam city, with another expected to join them on March 7.
In anticipation of the upcoming elections, authorities, including the Election Commission of India (ECI), have initiated preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of polls in Andhra Pradesh.
Commanding officers of these CISF companies have begun instructing their personnel regarding their roles and responsibilities in the areas where they will be deployed for poll duties.
An IPS officer at the Visakhapatnam police commissionerate, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to ECI guidelines, confirmed the arrival of two CISF companies in the city, each comprising 100 personnel.
These companies have been stationed at two locations: the Vizag Steel Plant area and Bakkannapalem (Madhurawada).
Furthermore, additional CISF companies have been deployed in other districts, such as Anakapalli, where sensitive polling stations warrant enhanced security measures.
These deployments serve as confidence-building measures and allow CISF personnel to familiarize themselves with the local terrain, population, and potential conflict areas.
The coordinated efforts of both Central and State police forces are aimed at ensuring a secure electoral process.
The CISF companies arrived via trains from various parts of the country and have been accommodated by the State police at various facilities, including government colleges.
It is anticipated that approximately 100 companies will be deployed across the state by the time the election notification is issued later this month, marking the commencement of pre-election activities.
