Visakhapatnam: Shanka Brata Bagchi, the newly appointed City Commissioner of Police, emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and the importance of respecting individuals who approach the police stations.

Upon assuming his role on Monday, Bagchi thanked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the opportunity to serve the city.

Bagchi highlighted combating cannabis transportation from neighboring states as a top priority, noting Visakhapatnam's role as a transit hub. He also mentioned the positive response to 'Operation Parivartan,' aimed at reducing crime.

Sharing his personal connection to the city, Bagchi recalled choosing Vizag for his honeymoon over Switzerland, appreciating its coastal and hilly beauty. He expressed pride in working for a city he cherishes.

The CP assured strict actions against corruption and misbehavior within the police force, emphasizing the need for effective public service.
