South Coast Railway has outlined major infrastructure works within just two months of beginning operations on June 1, 2026.

General Manager Sandeep Mathur said the zone is currently executing five new railway line projects and 24 multi-tracking works.

These ongoing projects involve an investment of approximately ₹54,479 crore.

Further railway projects worth nearly ₹70,865 crore are also in the pipeline.

More than 300 Road Over Bridges and Road Under Bridges are under construction to improve connectivity and safety.

A major ₹300-crore Visakhapatnam Yard Remodelling Project has also been sanctioned.

The project includes six additional lines, six new platforms, electronic interlocking and platform widening.

SCoR is also planning third and fourth railway lines and extensive yard remodelling at Simhachalam North to help decongest the Visakhapatnam region.

The railway zone currently comprises four divisions covering 3,532 route kilometres and 6,455 track kilometres.

Safety inspections have covered nearly 1,700 route kilometres and around 3,000 track kilometres during its first two months.

Redevelopment works are progressing at 70 stations, while three Amrit Bharat Stations have already been inaugurated.

SCoR has also introduced additional trains and coaches to meet passenger demand while strengthening safety and operational efficiency.
