CM Chandrababu Naidu Calls for Micro-Level Plans to Develop Visakhapatnam Economic Region

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials to prepare detailed micro-level plans for the development of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region.

The government wants to accelerate economic growth through carefully planned, sector-specific development clusters.

Priority areas include pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, food processing, tourism and information technology.

Visakhapatnam will function as the main hub of the economic region, which is being planned based on proposals from NITI Aayog and the State government.

The broader VER plan covers nine districts, with development proposals tailored to the economic strengths of different areas.

Officials have been asked to identify opportunities capable of attracting large-scale private investments and creating employment.

The Chief Minister also stressed sustainable development and stronger integration with domestic and global supply chains.

Infrastructure and road connectivity will play an important role in supporting the proposed industrial and economic clusters.

The government is also working on the Bay City project, aimed at developing Visakhapatnam’s coastal corridor as a major growth engine.

Tourism development and dedicated economic zones are also part of the wider regional strategy.

The micro-level approach is intended to ensure that investments translate into projects, jobs and economic activity across the region.

The government expects the VER initiative to strengthen Vizag’s position as a major industrial, technology, tourism and logistics hub.
