Sub-Inspector Arrested for Bribery by ACB in Visakhapatnam

In a significant development, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended Sub-Inspector Hari Krishna of the Arilova police station while he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant.

The incident unfolded on Thursday, marking a decisive action against corruption within the law enforcement ranks.

The case stemmed from a complaint filed by an individual who had sold his car to a resident of Vizianagaram district.

However, the buyer failed to remit the full payment, prompting the victim to seek assistance from the Arilova police station.

Sub-Inspector Hari Krishna intervened in the matter and purportedly facilitated a resolution between the parties involved.

However, the situation took a corrupt turn when SI Hari Krishna allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the buyer, who adamantly refused to comply.

In a coercive move, the SI confiscated the buyer's mobile phone, promising its return upon receipt of the bribe.

Faced with this egregious demand, the victim sought recourse by reporting the incident to the ACB officials in Visakhapatnam.

Taking swift action, ACB officials laid a trap and apprehended SI Hari Krishna in the act of accepting the illicit bribe.

Confirming the arrest, ACB CI Prem Kumar stated that the case is currently under investigation, highlighting the bureau's commitment to rooting out corruption and upholding integrity within law enforcement agencies.

The arrest of Sub-Inspector Hari Krishna underscores the imperative for transparency and accountability within the police force, serving as a reminder of the consequences for engaging in corrupt practices.

Through vigilant enforcement and public cooperation, the ACB endeavors to uphold the principles of justice and uphold the trust of citizens in law enforcement institutions.
