The Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 campaign was launched in Visakhapatnam East on September 17.
The campaign is being conducted across the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) limits.
The initiative focuses on improving cleanliness, sanitation and environmental awareness across the city.
GVMC officials, sanitation workers, students, youth, NGOs, resident welfare associations and citizens are being encouraged to participate.
Cleanliness Target Units and other public spaces will receive special attention during the campaign.
The Swachh Paathshala–Yuva for Swachhata initiative will involve students and young people in cleanliness and awareness activities.
A SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir will focus on the health, safety and welfare of sanitation workers.
The Jan Bhagidari for Swachhata programme will encourage citizens to take part in local cleanliness activities.
The campaign will also promote Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, waste segregation, home composting and reduction of single-use plastics.
Public places, markets, residential colonies, tourist areas and water bodies will be covered through cleanliness and awareness activities.
A city-wide one-hour cleanliness drive, “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath,” is planned for October 1, followed by Swachh Bharat Diwas activities on October 2.
The national campaign’s 2026 theme is “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.”
