Swift Action by Visakhapatnam Police: Four Accused Arrested for Assault



The Visakhapatnam City Police swiftly apprehended four individuals accused of assaulting a woman within hours of the incident. The case, registered under Crime Number: 287/2024, involves various sections of the BNS Act, 2023, and IT Act, 2000–2008. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Two Town Police Station, Visakhapatnam.

Details of the Accused:

  1. A1 - Bathi Vamsi: 27 years old, SC (Madiga) community, residing in Ringeriju Veedhi. A final-year LLB student at Madhurawada, working part-time as a delivery boy.
  2. A2 - Boddu Jagadeesh: 27 years old, Vadabalija community, residing in Jalaripeta. A final-year LLB student at Madhurawada, working part-time as a delivery boy.
  3. A3 - Polipalli Anand: 28 years old, Rajaka community, residing in Krishna Nagar. Works part-time as a cashier at Varun Motors.
  4. A4 - Davulapalli Rajesh: 23 years old, Vadabalija community, residing in Chepalupada. A final-year LLB student at Madhurawada, working part-time in road bonding work.

 


Case Summary:

  • The victim, a third-year LLB student at the same college, was acquainted with A1, Bathi Vamsi, and had a relationship with him for over 1.5 years under the pretense of marriage.
  • On August 13, 2024, A1 took the victim to the residence of A3, Polipalli Anand, at Krishna Nagar.
  • While the victim and A1 were in the room, A2 (Jagadeesh) secretly recorded them from a window. A2 later shared the video with A1, who in turn forwarded it to A3 and A4.
  • Using the video to blackmail the victim, the accused (A2 to A4) sexually assaulted her in the same room, aided by A1.
  • Subsequently, the victim was taken to another location, where she was further assaulted under duress using the same video footage.

Aftermath:

The prolonged harassment caused the victim immense psychological distress, leading her to attempt suicide on November 18, 2024, at her home in Pedagantyada. Before her attempt, she confided in her family, who then reported the incident to the police.

The Visakhapatnam City Police acted promptly, arresting the four accused within hours. They were taken into custody and remanded following further investigation.
