Visakhapatnam: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global IT services firm, is set to commence operations in Visakhapatnam by leasing space in the Millennium Towers located in the Rushikonda area. The company plans to start with an initial workforce of 2,000 employees, with future expansion plans to increase this number to 10,000 in a phased manner. 

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allocation of approximately 208,280 square feet to TCS within the Millennium Towers. This space includes the top four floors of Tower A and the ground plus eight floors of Tower B. 

TCS is investing around ₹80 crore in this venture, aiming to bolster the local economy and provide significant employment opportunities for the youth in the region. 

The Millennium Towers, developed as part of the Rushikonda IT Park, were completed with the intent to attract major IT companies to Visakhapatnam. The entry of TCS into this space is expected to enhance the city's reputation as an emerging IT hub and stimulate further investments in the sector.

Before TCS can commence operations, the Millennium Towers, currently designated as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), will undergo a de-notification process. This step is necessary to facilitate the leasing arrangement and is being coordinated by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). 
The state government's decision to lease the Millennium Towers to TCS reflects its commitment to fostering a conducive environment for IT companies and generating employment opportunities in the region. The collaboration with TCS is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for the growth of the IT sector in Visakhapatnam, attracting further investments and contributing to the city's economic development.
