Temperature Rises 6°C Above Average Across Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: Southern and central Andhra Pradesh have been experiencing unusually high temperatures over the past three days, with daytime highs ranging from 35°C to 37°C and dry conditions persisting.

On Monday, temperatures in Kavali surged 6.4°C above the seasonal norm, reaching 37.4°C. Nellore, Machilipatnam, Bapatla, Ongole, Nandigama, and Anantapur also recorded temperatures 4°C to 5.1°C above average.

“There are no systems in the Bay of Bengal, and the northeast monsoon remains inactive,” said Stella S., Director of the India Meteorological Department, Amaravathi.

A cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha has shifted towards south Odisha and the north Andhra coast, which may bring isolated rain to the ASR, Parvathipuram Manyam, and Srikakulam districts over the next 24 hours.

Scientists at the Regional Agriculture Research Station in Chintapalli indicate that these dry and warm conditions may persist until mid-November. Despite this trend, parts of Parvathipuram Manyam saw isolated rainfall, with Parvathipuram receiving 11.6 cm, Jiyyammavalasa 6.6 cm, and Seethanagaram 3.6 cm over the last 24 hours.
