The Precision Approach Radar at INS Dega was inaugurated yesterday

The Eastern Naval Command Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan inaugurates a Precision Approach Radar that guides aircraft from 25 kilometers to a touchdown during unfavorable weather at the INS Dega, the Indian Navy's airstrip located at Visakhapatnam International Airport.

This Precision Approach Radar is a medium-power X-band radar that assists Navy and military aircraft in landing safely during adverse weather or in emergency situations. It allows for a safe landing even in low visibility conditions.

The Ministry of Defense paid a Chennai-based company Rs 380 crores in 2019 for nine Precision Approach Radars. They announced that all nine radars would be installed at Indian Naval Air Stations and Indian Air Force Stations by 2022.
