The tracking of garbage vehicles by GVMC resulted in sanitation improvements in the city

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has begun using GPS to track garbage collection vehicles. Vehicle tracking and monitoring are carried out to keep track of any route deviations and to ensure that garbage transfer is carried out properly.

GVMC has installed GPS devices in over 300 garbage collection vehicles and is monitoring them from the Command Operations Center (COC).

On the other hand, it is yet to fully track the Clean Andhra Pradesh vehicles that collect garbage at the household level. Within the GVMC limits, the number of these vehicles would exceed 500.
