Three Naval Dockyard employees have been charged with fraud totaling Rs 7.8 crore
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against three Visakhapatnam Naval Dockyard officials for defrauding an amount of Rs 7.8 crore through bogus tenders. The CBI has registered criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery cases, and they have also been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The accused, identified as Prashant Shivhare, N Ramagopala, and Veer Singh Yadav, issued bogus tenders and paid the contractors without executing any work. They also provided bogus work completion certificates to these contractors.
The CBI has also registered three FIRs on at least 40 contractors. The CBI stated in the FIR that payments were made to contractors without the completion of tendered work, resulting in a loss of Rs 7.84 crores.
