Travel Guide from Visakhapatanam to Mumbai



Mumbai or Bombay is the business capital of India. People often say Mumbai city never sleeps. With most Bollywood celebrities and other famous icons residing in this sea city, it is considered a unique attraction in the country. 

Visakhapatnam to Mumbai distance is approximately 1400kms. So, it is evident that one cant travel by road. There are numerous trains and flights from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai. There are atleast three airlines that offer services from these two cities. Apart from this if one prefers to watch the caves on their journey, it is not a bad idea to go by train. It would roughly take 30hrs, but the Lonavala caves you will see on your journey are worth the long train journey.

The city has many exciting places of historical prominence and value. There are also some beautiful hill stations, amusement parks and other tourist attractions. 

Places to Visit in Mumbai

#1 Sanjay Gandhi National Park

Located amidst the concrete jungle, this place is a green haven offering escape from the city's traffic and pollution. The Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) will leave you refreshed and rejuvenated. It's the perfect way to introduce little ones to nature, with over 274 birds, 35 species of mammals, 170 species of butterflies and 1300+ types of trees residing here. 

You can go on nature trails, cycle around Kanheri caves, go boating or take a ride in a mini-train. SGNP has everything for everyone, making it the ideal Gateway without burning a hole in your pocket.

#2 Essel World

Essel World is one of the biggest amusement parks in Mumbai. There are rides for children, adults, and families. One can find a mirror maze, a tunnel twister ride where you get to wear VR headgears, a Go-Kart area, and fantastic mini-train rides. Leave your adult worries on the doorsteps and enter a world of fun and frolic at the park. Nothing is more relaxing than exhilarating, adrenaline-inducing rollercoasters.

#3 Jawhar

Located 140 kilometres from Mumbai, Jawhar is a quaint hill station surrounded by the Sahyadri range. Also known as Mini Mahabaleshwar of Thane, Jawhar was founded under the Mukne dynasty and was once a camping spot for Chhatrapati Shivaji and his army. When here, witness the tribal art and visit Jai Vilas Palace, Dabhosa and Kalmandavi waterfalls, and Hanuman Point.

#4 Imagicaa

 Located a few kilometres away from Mumbai in Khopoli, this theme park is the definition of all things adventure. Nothing beats summer heat than spending time in a pool or snow. While there are no chances of it snowing in Mumbai, Imagicaa brings the snow to you! Escape the summer heat and enjoy snow slides, snow hiking, snow basketball, snow mountain climbing, snow dancing, etc.

 If you are a water baby, the place has a variety of rides like Boomeranggo, The Pirate Bay, Splash, Zooballo, Soakerz family raft ride, Floatsa, and a few others. 

#5 Silvassa

Located 172 kilometres from Mumbai, Silvassa houses many Roman-Catholic churches, 72 villages, fascinating wildlife sanctuaries, and scenic beaches. Before becoming a tourist spot, Silvassa was a Portuguese colony, and the place still reflects the rich heritage of the Portuguese era. When here, you must visit the Lion Safari Wildlife Park, Vanganga Lake, and Island Garden. You can also enjoy trekking and nature walks here.

#6 Tamhini Ghat

Located 140 kilometres from Mumbai, Tamhini Ghat is surrounded by greenery, beautiful lakes, and stunning waterfalls. The mountain passage is nestled between Tamhini and Mulshi on the Western Ghats mountain range. It is a favourite for long drives among Pune and Mumbai residents. July-March is the best time to visit this place. When here, do visit the Mulshi Dam and enjoy camping and birdwatching.


The Gateway of India is located on the waterfront at Apollo Bunder area at the end of Chhatrapati Shivaji Marg in South Mumbai and overlooks the Arabian Sea. The monument has also been referred to as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai and is the city's top tourist attraction.

Popular food joints in Mumbai

#1 Sukh Sagar

The Chowpatty landmark serves all kinds of comfort meals and snacks. Think desi Chinese, creamy af pasta, pav bhaji, and get the picture. 

#2 Bade Miyan's

Drive down the lane after Regal Cinema after a particular hour, and you'll have no difficulty finding Bade Miyan's. Customers don't just jam up the tiny by-lane where this iconic Colaba eatery is located but also the lanes around it. From kebabs, biryanis, keema and tandoor dishes, Bade's, as it is locally known, serves up tasty non-vegetarian food at an hour when it isn't always easy to find non-veg on Mumbai streets.

#3 Sigdi

Yet another place you can always rely on to be open well past the curfew is Sigdi in Bandra. Whether you're done clubbing for the night or want to order in for those impromptu 1 am house party plans, whether you're a creative type working in an ad agency or burning the midnight oil at nearby Dharma Productions, Sigdi will always have something for you.

#4 Cafe Leopold, Colaba

This one is not just iconic it has a deep history attached and is possibly the scariest one. The terrorist attacks in Mumbai happened in the year 2008. It was the deadliest attack the city had ever seen, and Leopold was one of their targets.

The place serves the best Chicken Pot Rice, Chicken Tikka, and Mongolian chicken, and their dessert and cakes are delicious. This is one of the iconic eateries in Mumbai that serves the best berry pulao.

#5 Trishna Restaurant, Fort

Trsihna Restaurant in Mumbai has been loved by people as it serves some delicious seafood. Not many major in seafood, but this restaurant in fort does. You cannot miss out on their Kulfi! This is one of the iconic eateries in Mumbai that has been winning hearts for years!
