Ugadi Festival Brings Traditional Joy to Visakhapatnam
Ugadi, the festival of new beginnings, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional fervor in Visakhapatnam.
Despite the constraints posed by the Model Code of Conduct, the district administration and citizens rejoiced in the festivities, marking the occasion in a manner true to Telugu tradition.
District Collector A. Mallikarjuna emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and urged people to cherish and uphold their traditions. He highlighted Ugadi as the true New Year festival of the Telugu people and encouraged the community to value its significance.
Addressing the gathering at the VMRDA Children’s Arena, Dr. Mallikarjuna extended his greetings and emphasized the importance of civic duty, urging voters to exercise their right to vote actively. He stressed the need for higher voter turnout in urban areas and called upon residents to strive for a turnout of 75 to 80%.
The celebration featured a panchanga sravanam conducted by priest Rompicharla Singaracharyulu, who shared insights about the auspicious Govinda Narayana Yuga, bringing hope for a peaceful year ahead.
During the event, Ugadi Puraskar was conferred upon notable individuals for their contributions. Each awardee was honored with a prize of ₹10,116 as a token of recognition for their commendable efforts.
